Le menhir de la Pierre Plantée

Le menhir de la Pierre Plantée, au lieu-dit Le Faget, a été accidentellement endommagé au mois de juin, lors d'une opération d'entretien de la voirie. Ses fragments ont été relevés et sont aujourd'hui conservés en sécurité par la commune. 

Dès le jour du constat, la mairie a alerté l'ensemble des services compétents :

• l'UDAP du Lot (Unité départementale de l'architecture et du patrimoine)
• la DRAC Occitanie, service régional de l'archéologie
• la Cellule départementale d'archéologie du Département du Lot
• le CAUE du Lot
• le service patrimoine de Cauvaldor

Un premier constat a été établi à partir des photographies et du relevé transmis par la commune. Les archéologues du Département se sont ensuite rendus sur place le mercredi 12 août.

Une réunion d'experts se tiendra à l'automne. Elle définira le protocole de restauration éventuel et les mesures de protection destinées à éviter tout nouvel accident. Nous en publierons les conclusions sur cette page.

The Pierre Plantée menhir, located at Le Faget, was accidentally damaged in June during road maintenance work. Its fragments were recovered and are now being safely stored by the municipality.

On the day the damage was discovered, the town hall notified all the relevant authorities and organisations:

• the UDAP of Lot (Departmental Unit for Architecture and Heritage)
• the DRAC Occitanie, Regional Archaeology Department
• the Department of Lot’s Archaeology Unit
• the CAUE of Lot (Council for Architecture, Urban Planning and the Environment)
• the Heritage Department of Cauvaldor

An initial assessment was carried out based on photographs and a survey provided by the municipality. Archaeologists from the Department of Lot then visited the site on Wednesday, 12 August.

A meeting of experts will be held in the autumn. It will determine the appropriate restoration protocol, if any, as well as protective measures to prevent a similar accident from occurring again. We will publish the conclusions of this meeting on this page.
